Applications for the following year open in October 2023.


Scholarships provided through the Gender and Sexuality Center have been funded by the generosity of benefactors and alums. These annual scholarships assist students with their educational pursuits.

Crompton/Diaz-Perdomo Scholarship

The Crompton/Diaz-Perdomo Scholarship honors true heroes in LGBTQA+ rights and leaders in academics, and to inspire change and inclusion for students interested in and working toward a more inclusive, welcoming, and socially just environment for the LGBTQA+ community.

Value $3,000.00
  • Valid only for one academic year (fall and spring semesters). A tuition credit of $750 is applied each semester toward the recipient's centralized billing account. Recipient is required to carry a minimum of 12 hours per semester in which the scholarship is provided.
Eligibility: applicant must meet all requirements.
  • UNL undergraduate students who are attending UNL during the academic year that the scholarship is provided, with preference to those who demonstrate financial need as defined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Recipients will be enrolled or participating in one or more of the following UNL programs:
    • LGBTQA+/Sexuality Studies minor.
    • A member of a recognized student organization (RSO) for LGBTQA+ students.
    • Volunteers, student staff and/or supporters at the Gender and Sexuality Center.
  • Cumulative 2.5 grade point average.
Roland Leavitt and Shawn Leavitt Family Scholarship

The purpose of the Roland Leavitt and Shawn Leavitt Family Scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a UNL undergraduate student who is:

  • a non-traditional student (delayed enrollment more than one year after graduating from high school and/or has a primary focus other than school (work, parenting, etc.)
  • OR
  • a member of a recognized student organization whose purpose is to support LGBTQA+ students; has demonstrated involvement at the Gender and Sexuality Center; or is pursuing a minor in LGBTQ/Sexuality Studies at UNL.

Preference will be given to students with a major in the College of Business.

Value: $1,200.00
